Ingredients For Macher jhol with pointed gourd and potatoes recipe

Methods
  • 1. Firstly wash the fish pieces properly and rub salt and turmeric. Fry them till golden brown on both sides. Likewise, rub salt and turmeric on the potatoes and pointed gourd and fry them as well.
  • 2. Now, add oil as per requirement and temper with Nigella seeds and slit green chilies. As they begin to crackle, add sliced onions and sauté till golden brown. Add Ginger chilly crushed and sauté for a few more minutes.
  • 3. Add salt, powdered spices one by one. Sprinkle some water and cook till oil separates from the masala. Next, add the fried potatoes and pointed gourd. Cook till spices coat the potatoes and pointed gourd.
  • 4. Now, add 1.25 cups water and lower the heat. Cook till the potatoes and pointed gourd are tender. Lastly add the fried fish and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Switch off the heat and serve hot with steamed rice.
