Methods

How to make Dal Makhani Recipe

1. Soak the dal and rajma in water for atleast 8 hours.
2. Now wash them thoroughly, and add in a pressure cooker, with soda, salt, bay leaf, big cardamom.
3. Also add chopped ginger and 1 tb spoon chopped garlic.
4. Add little water so that the dal sinks.
5. Pressure cook till both dal and rajma becomes soft and really easy to mash.
6. It may take around 5-10 whistles.
7. Now take a deep pan, add ghee and butter.
8. When they are hot, add remaining garlic and saute, now add onions and saute for 4 minutes so that they become translucent.
9. Now add tomato puree and all the spices, cook until ghee leaves sides of the pan.
10. Now add the pressure cooked dal, remove the bay leaf and big cardamom.
11. Now let the dal stew for 20 minutes and add milk and cream and whisk.
12. Cook for 5 minutes more and finely add kasuri methi.
13. Serve with naan bread.
