Description

Pear Juice is obtained from the pear plant that belongs to the Pyrus genus. It is prepared by blending pear fruit pieces with water in a blender. It can be sieved using mesh strainer(leaving out the fibrous material) and, some sugar and lemon juice can be added for flavour. It can also be prepared in a juicer.

Selection Guide

Look for fresh pears to make pear juice at home. Go for the ones with smooth skin without any mold or bruises, and avoid the ones that have dark spots. When buying packaged pear juice, check for its expiry date before purchasing.

Note

Excessive consumption of pear juice can cause stomach disorders like diarrhea, bloating, cramping and flatulence. It can increase uric acid and also raise the risk of kidney stones. (2)
